About Strictly CSS
There are several sites on the web with same goal as Stricly CSS, namely to promote CSS resources and web sites that are designed with CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and which comply to the web standards and best design practices.
However, not many of these sites are built like a directory. At this directory the visitors can easy see which kind of web sites or businesses that are concerned about their visitors by having a more accessible web site.
There are many reasons for creating web sites that comply to the web standards, below are some reasons:
- Improve user experience = Reduce page weight = Faster page load = Saved bandwith = Reduced costs for the owner
- Increase page accessibility = Increase area of audience
- Maintain consistency in look and feel
- Makes it easier to maintain pages = Reduced maintenance cost
Many other things could also been said about this, but this isn't another article on the subject. Just remember, by using techniques that makes your site more accessible benefits all of your users, search engines, and broadens your current audience. This standard is law in some countries, and may be it in your country also in the future.
Strictly CSS is made without tables - it's a so called tableless design. The only place tables are used are on pages where tabular data are presented.
About the CSS articles
The articles found at Strictly CSS are either pointers to other CSS articles submitted by me or by visitors. Furthermore, Strictly CSS is also a personal CSS playground.
About the Strictly CSS tools
Strictly CSS isn't only a directory, also some webmaster related tools are added since using best design practices is very webmaster and web designer related. You can check the CSS before you suggest a site and which keywords to use, matching colors and if your pages returns correct codes.
Some more about stuff
The directory is self made, and the reason for programming a directory was simply that I was getting tired of phone calls from business directories mostly selling "snake oil". My response to this was to programme my own business directory only for Norwegian organisations and companies, with free registration of course. The directory called i-Partner has been running a couple of years, and is one of the best ranking directories in Norway. This means that it every day sends many potential customers to Norwegian companies.
